#queenelizabeth The poet was throughout his life greatly indebted to the patronage and support of royal and noble personages; his royal patrons were Queen Elizabeth and King James I, both of whom greatly loved the drama. The virgin queen devoted herself to the study of the ancient classical period; she also delighted in our own theatrical entertainments, and used her influence in the progress of the English drama, and fostered the inimitable genius of Shakespeare

#thearmada Spain and England were at daggers drawn almost from the time of Elizabeth's accession, with her rejection of Philip II's proposal of marriage. The two states were ideologically and commercially opposed--England's trade with the Spanish-controlled Netherlands increasingly challenged Philip's colonial empire.

#shakespearequotes Here i leave a few quotes that say Shakespeare: To be, or not to be: that is the question Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none. God has given you one face, and you make yourself another. Hell is empty and all the devils are here. I wasted time, and now doth time waste me
